Tie Guan Yin is the Chinese mainland Pingying; whereas Ti Kuan Yin is the Taiwan's Pingying.
China changed the traditional characters in 60s, so there is some changes to the Pingying as well.
So Tie Guan Yin and Ti Kuan Yin is the same tea, which only originates from Anxi county, Fujiang province.
However, there are some Taiwan bolled Oolong teas, which are very similiar to Tie Guan Yin teas in Shape, but with totally different taste and aroma. Those Taiwan teas are also very good tea. I like them as well.
Hope it can be clear.

Regarding New Century Tea Gallery... just wanted to add... I had some Monkey-Picked TKY from there, via the Oolong box pass... and it was one of my favorite greenish oolongs I've ever seen... scrumptuous fragrance and flavor, I just really loved it. I haven't ordered because the price was 37.50 for 1/4 lb. I'm not a cheapskate, but have been sampling around, hoping to find something the same or similar from a more direct source.
I notice the Iron Goddess TGY is only 9.50, and the Iron Goddess King is 25.00 for 1/4 lb. Has anyone tried these as well as the Monkey-Picked to make a comparison? I may order some samples, but would love to hear feedback if anyone has some experience.

I have tried the king version as it was recommended here. It was very good but...I do think the one i got from FA was pretty close to its equal and at about half the price. to be honest i would probably go to FA again. I didnt try the monkey picked but did try a sample of the Li Shan and it was wonderful.

I just got some Ti Kuan Yin in the oolong sampler I ordered from Adagio. I like it a lot! I love lighter oolongs.

I have had the TKY from Adagio as well and its not bad..quite pleasant. But the "regular" TKY's are so much different than the "king" versions. they really are quite a world apart IMHO

Adagio's TKY is fine for every day. The NCTG Iron Goddess King was pretty high up there when at its peak, but the premium stuff is found at Jing Tea Shop.
