Friday TeaDay 2/12/10 TeaPot analysis continues?

BYOT! Enter TeaChat here, you never know what you may find!

OK, bear with me, I am going somewhere with this series of topics. How many different individual tea brewing vessels (yeah, include Chawan-s) would you use in the course of an entire month?

In a month, I probably use 3 or 4 of the 4 tiny (50-60mL) clay pots (for gongfu with sheng & shu puerh, for oolongs, for dan cong oolongs); a plain glass teapot (200mL for 'bulk' brewing, one at work and one at home); one kyusu for morning sencha; and all of the 6 gaiwans may get pressed into service (matched gaiwans for comparison tastings or gongfu with green teas, some at work, some at home). So that's more than 12 if I use all those in a month. The half dozen larger teapots hardly get used at all.

I keep it simple--two kyusu, and one Koryo infuser cup. And that last one is a recent acquirement! Sometimes I also throw a gaiwan into the mix.

I'm away from home right now, so at the moment I'm brewing ginseng oolong lazily in my Koryo cup.

ok, I answered 6, two gaiwan, two teapots, a basket infuser and paper filter. I didnt count the mugs that i use with the infusers because i really dont know, i own about 15 cups that i use with tea and when i am at work i usually brew in a styrofoam cup so im not sure how often i reuse the same cup for the brew basket and filter and how many times it is the same cup. Though as i get better with the gaiwan, the brew basket and filter see much less action.

Yes! Must... have... pictures...

A little Darjeeling at work before they let us go early - unfortunately, that means I missed the best steep of it, but that's ok. Water boiling right now for some Silver Needles. Snow + white tea = good afternoon.

Laura, I'll try to get some pics -- however, it is snowing and the house is so dark that I would have to use a flash, and don't find the photos that good. I do have an old shot of the pot w/the metal cozy, so I'll try to post that in a few minutes.

Some Golden Monkey this afternoon, with a Krispy Kreme doughnut! From my DH for Valentine's Day.

This was a set up for a still life I was going to paint. Hence the Granny Smiths. :)

Mines the same as yesterday at 4 brewing vessels. I don't have much teaware and like to use just a few brewing vessels and get used to them.

Gotta use something new every brew-- then you gotta smash it to pieces. Boom.

7 pieces a day... 7 days a week... 30 days a month....

I kid, I kid.

4?

Drinking nothing. Sitting in a hotel room in myrtle beach. Was going to shoot the marathon but it was cancelled.... Can't wait for that 6 hour drive home in the A.M... :/
