I like to compare teas side by side, so the discipline it would take to keep just one open of each type of tea just has no chance of taking hold here.

So, too many open at once, but not too many of the most delicate varieties--only 2 senchas, and one matcha.

HELP, send SENCHA!!!

I have too few open, in that I have no sencha open nor availalble to open!!! :(  :x Ha, I am the only vote for this rather dubious honor.

Began the day with an Organic Korean Green with Mrs.Chip, Gamnong from Hankook. This one is fickle, not the best a few days ago, nailed it yesterday, and just OK today.

Marybong Supreme FF Darjeeling from Imperial Teas in my cup this morning.

I used to have way too much open. Not so much these days. Waaaay too much tea on hand in total, but opened, not too bad.

I am right where I probably should be, but not where I want to be

I see those unopened oolong canisters and get a little bit depressed, guess I could put them in a box out of site

cold da yu ling in the morning that I didn't finish last night
Keeman-lapsang blend for lunch/work

Since I drink mostly blacks and oolongs, I don't really worry about how many I have open. It's probably a good thing, as I have this compulsion to open all new packages to smell 'em. I can't help myself!

Tried some Yi Congou from Rishi this morning--not bad. Kind of like a weak Keemun. Sakura sencha in a moment.

I don't feel as though I have too many open, but objectively, I can see that I probably do. Some of that is the fault of my liking to throw tea parties, though-- my friends like to sample everything!

The day started with some lapsang souchong; now I'm drinking a couple cups of looseleaf pu-erh; after dinner will be either some barley tea or whatever the girlfriend picks out if she comes over.

Currently in my cup, some later steeps of a nice TGY from
Camellia Sinensis. I may break my "no buying oolongs till
spring" rule to repurchase this one.

I probably have too many open right now. Most are samples, but even so, definately too many open. I am still fairly new to tea and trying alot of new teas so when a box arrives, i cant help it, i want to open every bag right away so i can taste everything. I also like to do side by side comparisons between different teas, so that means even more open. I am trying to get it under control and drink up the samples i have open before opening more, but as soon as a sample tin is empty, i cant help but fill it back up with something else.

Alishan oolong from norbu this morning, have been so busy lately my tea drinking has been slacking a bit, but the weather has been so nice i have been enjoying getting my garden ready for planting more than sitting on the couch drinking tea.

I don't have much opened because I don't have much!
When we moved back to the US from Australia, I didn't bring any of my teas with me, so I only have what I bought since we got here. I lost my job in December so I don't have much!
I am going to go slow anyway and only get what I know I like. It is easier to get samples, etc here than in Perth, so I should be able to taste some things BEFORE I buy, etc.
I have a better idea of what I like now anyway.

I'm exactly where I want to be with opened teas -- 240 grams open among six types, and I have enough Japanese green to last until the new harvest arrives.

I started the day with Xiao Hong Pao and had Tea Gallery Kagoshima sencha for lunch.

I have what I called a "Tea and Coffee Depot." This area includes all electronic devices necessary to make each item. So the grind and brew coffee pot and 4L electric hot water dispenser with 3 temp settings and under that a ZILLION teas. I have so many if I stopped buying them I could still be happy and in tea heaven for at least 2 to 3 years, of course if properly stored. Is it a problem? Maybe to some but not me. As a see it I only have a few serious hobbies tea, wine, and scrap booking. So if that means a zillion teas, a special dual temp wine cooler with wines from all over the world and a special closet and room dedicated to scrap booking then so be it. It makes me so very happy. :D

Argh. With a 13 hour work day yesterday (and between work #1 having blocked TC  and work #2 at the restaurant and thus not near a computer), I didn't get a chance to post yesterday. It slowed, but didn't stall my tea-drinking though, a couple steeps of gunpowder in the morning, and some yunnan noir once I got to the restaurant - it kept me going since I didn't end up with time for dinner.

As for how many I have open.. I went for just about right because I don't have all -that- much, but most of it is open. And what I have is a lot of sample sizes, I have 2 greens that I haven't opened, and everything else is open - but that's still only about a half dozen black teas (including darjeeling, which I only open to refill the sample-size container), 2 greens, 1 oolong, 1 white (next order is probably going to be a lot of oolong and white), and 2 non-sample-size rooibos that I don't like anyway, they're totally just for my roommate.

I think I sort of have the "right" amount of tea open just now (if there is such a thing as "right"), but I've been so called almost purely to japanese greens and chinese whites of late, I have some oolongs that are being neglected. :(
