Question about the Utilitea kettle

Can you brew tea in the Utilitea kettle once the water boils? Or is this something you should not do?

As a general rule, Kettles are for heating water, and Teapots are for steeping tea.

While I can not think of any really good, sound reasons why you can't, several things come to mind as to reasons why you possibly should not.

1. Residual heat in the coils will probably cook the leaves.
2. Possibly quite hard to clean, and you do not want the residue of many different teas effecting this tea do you?


But that being said I am not completely familiar with the Utilitea kettle.

No, brew tea in a separate vessel. To my recollection it states this in the information sheet included with the kettle.

LOL, don't ask Alton Brown ... he hard boils eggs in his electric kettle ... and other extreme uses.

They generally say water only!
