Is jealous.

The poppets (and new residents) helped a bit with some puerh brewing today. I think they are now at least a 6 or 7 on their BrewAbiliTea.

Unique in the sense that I learned a method for white tea that has aptly learned the name "White espresso." Basically its white tea made very strong, uses quite a bit of leaf, but it will be the most flavor you have ever gotten out of a white tea, and if you do it right its mostly flavor with little bitterness.

I love your little poppets, Geekgirl! They are so cute!

I'm "getting there"-- I'm still not super-experienced just because I only started getting deeply into looseleaf tea a couple years ago, so there are still occasional missteps. I'm better with some types of tea than with others, though.

Yesterday was an epic tea day because it was the monthly tea party. I had chrysanthemum pu-erh, bi lo chun, and a pau d'arco tisane. Mmm! Right now there's some looseleaf pu-erh in my mug, to be followed later with a green of some sort.

I am definately still learning and teachatters have been a huge help. I think my biggest problem is trying to multitask when making tea (not all the time, but more lately). sometimes i have time to pay attention and sometimes i am just trying to get it made while doing other things and it gets left too long.

Started the day with an oolong from norbu (cant remember which one). young hysson with lunch. Currently drinking cheap (not very good) peppermint tea.

I thought about this more of my ability to brew my "usual" teas like wuyi or chinese greens so I generously gave myself a 6-7. This is of course useing scales, timers and thermometers, without them I would be lost.

Teas that I don't brew often I have to check around to see how to brew them so In some ways I feel were always learning.

anxi benshan oolong today

Welp, this puerh is about done for. I've been steeping on it since last night. The saline taste I noted was gone by the 3rd steep, and it got fairly decent for a cheaper bing by the 3rd/4th steep. Can't wait to try some better stuff. :) Hmm... maybe I'll have some silver needle now. I need a challenge.

I had to go with 6-7. There are definitely some teas that I'm still a little hesitant when I brew, but the number has been diminishing of late!! I'm definitely getting much better with being able to eyeball greens, and I've been at the point for some time where I just have a sense about when blacks are done - whites too. My brain just says "it's done!" and there you have it - good tea. Oolongs I can do that about 85% of the time. I'm no professional, but I'd say I'm better than average.

At work today, multiple infusions of FLT's LiShan - I love this stuff!! Such wonderful flavor. I'm definitely saving up to hopefully get a good oolong or two (nothing extravagant) this spring. The last of the peach/vanilla oolong while cooking/eating dinner (homemade corn dogs and mashed potatoes!), now I just have some of the vanilla oolong sampler left (and grapefruit which I can't stand the smell of, and almond which I'm still not sure I like). Ah well, live and learn - and then get FLT's LiShan! (apparently). Thanks Victoria!!! :D

*late to the party* I still tend to end up with weak or bitter tea, even though I watch the time and don't let it outright boil for greens/light oolong. I don't have a kettle at the moment so that probably doesn't help...
