...Which is not to say I don't love the smell of tea. Only thing better-smelling is fresh lavender.
But the tea smell gets into everything! My mugs, my infusers, my tetsubin, my teaspoons even. No matter how picky I am about keeping them clean, they all end up smelling like tea and I can't get the smell out.
In some cases (my crappy old plastic travel mug namely) it started affecting the flavor of teas that I put in them. I'm afraid it'll happen to my more pricey teaware.
Rooibos is THE worst about leaving its smell sticking around.
Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know how I can get the sticky tea smell out?
On a side-but-somewhat-related note: how do you keep mesh infusers clean? Mine seem to build up microscopic tea bits over time... also causing tea smell problems.
Thanks!
Wow...I'm sorry.
Honestly I havent experienced your problem: the only things similar that I've run into are small traces of brownish stuff in my teapots and a stained infuser. For the teapots its nothing that a soap and sponge wont take out, and as for the infuser: i throw it into the dishwasher, and it comes out pure white almost as if when I first bought it. The metal infusers are cleaned just as teapots: with a soap and sponge. Are you cleaning your appliances thoroughly when you're finished? You should always scrub with soap and water after you're finished. Rinsing with water generally doesnt do the job, unless you want stains in the long run.
