Hoping this reprieve is on its way to PA, brutal hot for early April.

My target is 5 for most teas, if I go beyond 5 I begin to get a bit bored regardless how good the tea might be. Sometimes I will set it aside, move on and then return to it later if I am getting more than 5 steeps.

So, the desire for variety take precedence over the need for more steeps of one tea.

But for Japanese greens, they seem to always fall right into the 5 steep area for me, sometimes more and virtually never less.

For this reason, I tend to brew more in the TC donned "semi Gong Fu method instead of the full throttle versions.

How many do each of us typically coax out of a tea on average, all things taken equally. I come back to... 3.
Yes, very well said.

Began the TD with Gyokuro Suimei from Den's followed by matcha with Mrs. Chip.

I agree with everyone else who said that the number of steeps is variable. The maximum number I've been able to coax out of my leaves is four thus far, although it might be more if I were in my dorm all day-- tea is a slow, relaxing process for me.

Currently drinking a second steeping of green tea with lotus petals-- it could probably yield at least three more steepings, but I have class really soon... Tonight will probably be a pau d'arco tisane.

I'm drinking autumn flush Darjeeling from Pussimbing estate - it's great.

It's black tea, not oolong, but I like brewing it gong fu style and doing 3 or 4 steepings. Works great! Very intoxicating flavor.

I can say about 11-15 because I will usually steep quality oolongs 15 times whether they like it or not. Im determend to steep every drop of flavor from them.

I had to write a discriptive essay today for phsychology about the five senses and how they affect everyday life, so of course I included how I use my five senses to brew up some tea, specifically rou gui in a yixing :D

rou gui in my cup today

too many variable to answer :D

In my cup, genmai with a little matcha sprinkled in it.
Haven't been drinking as much tea lately...probably due to it being already 90 degrees outside

Sampling an "M" series new Adagio tea that will be officially introduced on 4/10. This time Formosa Pouchong which I found to be very good with this first tasting.

So far today, 2 steepings of a high-quality gyokuro, although I suspect I will enjoy it better with more shorter steepings; probably 6 very short steepings at high leaf-to-water ratio of an inexpensive Yunnan green Mao Feng to fill my thermos; and am on at least the 10th steeping of a good quality Dragon Well.

Tomorrow, probably many more steepings of oolong or puerh.
