I LOVE black tea/shu pu. I drink it almost exclusively in the winter, and every morning the rest of the year.
I LOVE BLACK TEA!
Re: Tuesday TeaDay 4/13/10 Black tea desirability?
I drink black tea a few times per week...not at any special time of day. Mostly Chinese style black (red) teas but also Darjeeling...only very rarely other types of black tea.
Oolong is still my favourite but even that I don´t drink everyday...

I drink black tea occasionally.
The sad part is the time when I would be most likely to make it, is when I can not as it tends to go straight to my stomach and start screwing everything up. So if I want to have Black tea in the morning I also need to have breakfast, which of course just adds to the list of things to do in the morning.
Though in all honesty I should start eating breakfast, instead of a late breakfast/ early lunch at between 10 and 11.

I drink Dian Hong and Golden Needle at home occasionally. Sometimes I drink black tea (from tea bags
) as a substitute for Pu-Erh when I am on the road.
Re: Tuesday TeaDay 4/13/10 Black tea desirability?
I like black tea and have it most days - I start most mornings with a black. I feel it leads for a better appreciation of oolongs.
My favorite are Darjeelings. Lately though, getting into Mao Feng.

I completely love black tea. I like all kinds of black teas (or what the Chinese call red tea, "hong cha"). Sometimes I am a keemun fanatic. Lately I have been drinking a Szechuan black I like a lot. I am also partial to Yixing black. There is a black tea that Ito En calls "red peony" and I'm not certain of its title in a more generic sense. There is a tea from Taiwan which is an assam from Burma brought by the Japanese and bred with a local Taiwanese plant. It is often called Ruby Black. Delicious varieties of that have a kind of 'sweet potato' taste.
I like them all. What I think I love about black teas are the richness of an especially glossy tea filled with good plant oils, the taste that stays with you and refreshes your body and warms your heart at the same time.

I drink black tea occasionally-- I'm much more partial to pu-erh or green. Black teas tend to be kind of hit or miss for me; I tried darjeeling a few times and couldn't get into it, but I am absolutely addicted to rose congou. I want to try some more black teas but I'm nervous about getting a large amount and then realizing that I'm not too fond of it...
Jasmine-green tea-oolong mix currently, to be followed by some chrysanthemum tea later.

Really like black tea, but only have it occasionally.
I've just been so into matcha and Japanese greens lately!
Also, I find that since my gallbladder wake up call last summer and resultant dietary changes, my body is quite sensitive to more oxidized teas like puerh, blacks, reds, oolongs - they are quite drying now, which adversely effects my digestion processes.
Started the TD with Horai-no-mukashi, then on to organic oku yutaka.
Cheers everyone!

Have really enjoyed all the black tea drinkers coming out of the closet today!! I was beginning to think that I was an interloper in a green TeaChat!

Chip, you are a devil!!!Chip wrote:Began my TeaJourney with black mostly. And for years I began every day with one. I still really like Keemuns, Darjeeling (and Nepal, Sikkim, etc), and some Golden Monkey. I never liked Yunnan, but some of the recent Adagio Yunnan have been very enjoyable. I just don't get excited about black teas currently. . .
Hold that thought!artmom wrote:I use small European style tea pots, though, as I'm the only tea drinker now. My big teapots are just objects to admire.![]()

And be sure to read tomorrows TD topic!!!

I am still all over the place with the types of tea I drink. I usually have a black tea most days. Mostly yunan's lately but I still like an Earl Grey or Irish breakfast sometimes - although I am finding my tastes for those are changing.
But no black today though! Started with white peony, then Genmaicha Extra Green, then a leftover white tea from Teavanna - Garden Aria. Been a while since I have had any white and it was nice for a change.

I'm here too! Black started my TeaJourney, and it continues to be a favorite, although I must confess I don't drink it every day. My TeaPalate is rapidly expanding, so I've been trying many new things and I feel I've been letting black slip a bit - but that's ok. Artmom, you'll be happy to know that I believe I've found a store in town that has Mariage Freres.. so next time I'm in the mall, I'll be stopping by for some Marco Polo if they have it. I'm looking forward to it! I'll let you know when I pick it up and try it.geeber1 wrote:artmom, we "dark-siders" are a bit outnumbered, but we keep on hanging on!artmom wrote:Have really enjoyed all the black tea drinkers coming out of the closet today!! Currently still in the process of drinking down my "stockpile" as my boyfriend puts it. But I know I have nowhere near what some other folks have; I think if he saw pics of other people's teastashes he'd probably pass out from overexposure to tea. That being said, I had 3 more infusions of the oolong I started drinking yesterday, and as I just got home, I didn't have my evening/dinner tea, which made me sad. Guess I'll just have to make up for it with extra tea tomorrow!!

Earl Grey, Keemun, Yunnan black, Yunnan gold are my favorites. Lapsang Souchong on the way.
