nice new Avie, ArtMom.
Thanks, Chip! Also, nice to know that about the gunpowder. I keep trying the greens; surely I'll find one that I can actually drink 2 or 3 ounces of!! :)

One of my roommates kind of has a monopoly on playing music in the dorm-- if anyone else does it, it's apparently a "distraction" -- so music with my tea is rare. Lately, though, said roommate has been going out partying, so my tea is sometimes accompanied by Lady GaGa, assorted Japanese rock groups, or the Beatles. Good times, good times.

Started the day with some Chun Mee green tea, and I'm now drinking some new looseleaf pu-erh (finally finished off that one box on Friday after like a year  ). Something herbal will probably follow dinner.

I know the feeling (and ditto on the nice new avie!!). Gunpowder is ok, but has to be done just right for me to really enjoy it. I've liked everything I've gotten from Den's so far, but by the end of the 2oz bag I felt like I'd really started to get a feel for the tea - it's definitely a slower process for me than picking up, say, a new black tea.

As to the actual question, I sometimes manage to incorporate music to my tea-drinking, but not as often as I'd like. I can't have a radio on at work, so that limits my ability, but I often have music on at home - especially while sitting at my computer - or I'll be drinking tea while watching tv. If I'm reading while drinking tea, I absolutely love to have music on, but I haven't been doing much of that lately.

Started out this morning with a bagged not-quite-powder-but-not-whole-leaf English Breakfast, and now that I'm back home and can make a decent cuppa, I have a big mug of wuyi to celebrate!

I've tried Gunpowder and wasn't thrilled either. Then someone at work gave me a big bag of it. I hate to throw it away, but probably will never drink it. Hmmmm, maybe it's time to visit TeaSwap!

artmom wrote:Tried Adagio's Gunpowder Tea today. Another green that will wait on Granddaughter's return from Japan -- so that she may make it for me. I just don't do green correctly.

I didn't enjoy it (can you tell  ) and made a cup of Black Pearl to wash it down!!
I did not care for Adagio's Gunpower either. And I just now remembered that gunpowder was the first loose leaf tea I tried many years ago, and unfortunately it was many years before I tried it again. Sencha is more my cup of green tea :)

The greens do take some time to figure out. I had some dragonwell from last year that I could never get right. After the time I have spent with Sencha's I tried it again today and enjoyed it.

I love music, so listening to it is just another way to elevate my mood. Do I listen to music while I drink tea? Absolutely, though it's what I would be listening to even if I were not drinking tea.

Making mass quantities of iced tea, trying to slim down my collection.

I drink tea as part of my everyday routine--with breakfast, during the workday, at home on weekends and in the evenings--and most of the time, it is something I am enjoying with other things happening, for the added pleasure of drinking tea rather than plain water. When I am doing a more focused gung fu cha, or a tasting, there often is music playing, but as equally often it might be spoken word podcasts. No rhyme or reason or special ceremony most of the time.

Today, started with some Jade Pole green tea from yunnan sourcing, drunk in quiet because I wasn't sure if my companion in the other room was awake or not, then a quart of Ali Shan spring 2009 oolong from norbu was enjoyed in mostly noisier settings, as I was volunteer staff at a camp this weekend, so even when there was music in the background, it was not picked to harmonize with me, or with the tea!

+1 on the sencha, of course. And Long Jing aka Dragon Well is well worth the persistence. There are very worthwhile Chinese greens, Gunpowder is just not on my list, period.

Next up, Adagio's new Maestro series Ali Shan served up in aroma/tasting cups ... the aroma held up for at least 7 steeps, very nice indeedy. Then Matcha in a Seigan Blue Chawan ... and lastly Korean Hydrangea in Chinatown dragon cups. 4 tea day with Mrs. C today ...

As often as possible for me. Music is always on in my apartment if I'm awake (and sometimes when I'm not) unless I'm watching tv or a movie. Most nights when I get home from work I'll put a kettle on and then choose some music. Rarely is there a rhyme or reason, mostly just pick something that fits my mood. After a hard day at work (which is most of them), I like jazz or blues...leaning more toward Miles Davis than Kenny G. and Elmore James than Kenny Wayne Sheperd. Some of my other favorite tea music includes the Cowboy Junkies, Leo Kottke, Nick Drake, Pentangle, and of course, the subdudes. Oddly enough, Nina Simone is absent from my music library  . I'll have to remedy that this week.

No tea tonight...single malt scotch instead (rough day)

No, no music usually (unless it was playing anyways). Oh, now I have to get a Kindle! Maybe I'll add it to teaware budget

Had some Den's genmaicha extra green today.

Not always, but I do sometimes really enjoy brewing up while listening to some deep roots/dub reggae (subwoofer on ;) although not intrusively loud! Alternatively some ambient electronica e.g. early Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, or maybe even some foot stompin delta or early Chicago blues!
