I'm quite partial to black teas. I like all duiffernet kinds of tea but I think black is still my 2nd favorite, only slightly behind white teas (mainly bai mu dan style), and slightly ahead of oolong.

Nothing beats a good Darjeeling though. Or a Nilgiri.

As to me comparing black teas is almost impossible. Comparing with what? How many are there? What is once preference, taste, .....
I am drinking mainly 3 kinds and would never know which is the best since all are very good: Sichuan Gongfu, Yin Jun Mei Souchong both from Teaspring and Keemun from funalliance from which I am still waiting for my order over 2 months ago. I have some other black teas in my cabinet they are good as well but lack that aroma filling the room when brewing. That is especially pronounced from Smoked Lapsang Souchong which gives more than a fill of aroma. May be that was the tea you got.
