My first dance with Matcha!

by bigmonstertruck » May 12th, '10, 21:41

I ordered the deluxe starter set from Yuuki Cha and some matcha from Ippodo (the Wakamatsu-no-mukashi). I had never had matcha before, but finally figured I would give it a go. The stuff is fantastic! Very easy to prepare. If I am doing something wrong, I cannot imagine what it will be like when I get better at it. Thanks to good guidance from this forum on the choice of matchas (I did get some others, but of the 2 I opened the Waka was the better and it seems to be highly rated here) and the ample info on matcha preparation on the web. Yukki Cha and Ippodo provide some good info too.

If you savor the flavor of greens, don't hold back any longer! It is more to me like sipping a fine single malt scotch then drinking a cup of tea (maybe analogous to drinking a beer). A very different experience but very nice. Plus there are a lot of fun toys to go along with it.

I am new to green teas in general, but I am loving my morning matcha. I cant believe how much "kick" it gives. I get an energy boost for my entire day!

Welcome Angie! Yes it's a great morning tea. Unfortunately for me I don't have enough time or am not awake enough most mornings. :)

I also love to drink Matcha in the morning. I make my morning Matcha with milk instead of water. :D

that is interesting. I'll have to give it a go. I am wondering how addicted I am to this stuff though... I'll have to take a break from it, and see if I get a caffeine headache...?

I'm gonna have to try that... it sounds good (and would probably work with warmed milk as well)
