Alright so I'm thinking about getting a bit more serious with Matcha, and I think I want to get a really nice Chashaku.
I thought I've seen some sites listed before, but I can not seem to find them.
So any suggestions as to sites to look for them?
Re: Nice/Fancy Chashaku
I would love to find one of those fancy inlaid ones like Olivier has.
Niiiice.
It seems there are just average and off the charts - price wise.

Darn sorry to hear that, I figure Chashaku's probably last quite some time, but I probably didn't want to spend a great deal of money.
Thanks for the response.

Yuuki-cha has some nice ones for the price. I think the dark ones
are a little more distinctive, since you see so much of the other.
Of course that leads to wanting a dark chasen. Of course.

I have a nice Tsugaru lacquer one that is similar to this one. The lacquer is on the back surface.
Tsugaru lacquer is a very unique finish...... very beautiful patterns. I've seen this poarticualr type made. A very laborious process.
This is about the going price for one of these... not too expensive.

You should be able to find nice chataku on ebay.
I got this chataku for less than 30$

and this one for a little more 50-60$ (it came with a shifuku)

Considering the money that could be spent on chawans, it isn't that expensive.

I love that last one Olivier, I hope someday I will find one like that. Unless Adam beats me to it.

Re: Nice/Fancy Chashaku
I recently purchased the dark bamboo chashaku and chasen from Yuuki-cha and they were of very high quality. Enough so that I wonder if similar products I had purchased from other vendors that were marketed as Takayama were actually low quality mainland Chinese rip-offs. I have also found the Takayama products from O-Cha to be of very high quality and to last a long time. O-Cha also carries the lower priced Chinese versions, but they are clearly labeled as such.Victoria wrote:Yuuki-cha has some nice ones for the price. I think the dark ones

Although I haven't purchased from them, Horaido has a nice selection of chashaku, including replicas, ranging in price from about $5 to more than $100.
