according to yuuki their Magokoro also is unique because it undergoes no roasting
maybe that is why it is lighter then other fukas I have tried

Yes, that could be a good conclusion. I missed that in the description of Magokoro ... and just looked ... cannot find this in the description.

Where are you reading this?

I wonder if there is a higher percentage of these non roasted selections available as shincha?

Not in the description but in the click here for shincha updates link

they say shincha is usually not as heavily roasted to help retain the spring taste, whether or not they have any others that are not roasted at all I do not know

Churng, OK, I see that. Thanks. I would agree and conclude (as I mentioned above) that shincha is often either less roasted or not roasted, compared to non shincha versions of the same tea. Thus the more intense flavors of shincha, a taste of Spring.

I would also take this a step further, that tea stored as aracha and brought out through the year for final processing and roasting, would derive greater benefit from this roasting.

But what do I know.

I suppose it's lighter than other fukas--but I do remember it being flavorful.

Certainly a very good tea. Similar to Yutaka Midori of O-Cha, but as Chip has pointed out, not as soupy.

Is it the less roasting that accounts for the higher moisture content in shincha's? I wonder. However, the Magokoro from Yuuki-Cha is apparently never roasted, and I'm unsure it has the same moisture content as shincha throughout the year. Actually, I surmise the 'finishing' of tea once it's taken out of cold storage encompasses more than just roasting.

If my memory serves me correctly Chip tried a couple last year. Yeah no doubt you can get some pretty good stuff for that price.

Just got an email and ordered some Fuji Ultimate Limited Edition from Zencha, apparently only going to be offered as a Shincha.

I hadn't been going to order any more Shincha but with a name like that, how could I resist?

I have recieved my order from Yuuki-cha, 6 packages, Tenryu Misakubo, Sayamakaori, and Honyama all asamushi, I opened the Tenryu Misakubo, it looks great, later on this day I will hopefully make some tea.
Sofar yuuki-cha`s services were great, it is the first time I order from them, I hope their organic teas will convince me that they are the best.

I recieved my teas last week from Yuukicha, I have tenryu misakubo, it is a very clear and aromatic sencha, a bit light, but good, Sayamakaori is good too, interesting aroma, and I also ordered Honyama sencha, and sofar this one is my favourite, it is much stronger than the rest, it has high toned, smell like Yutaka midori, I can only recomend, P.S. I used 10 grams for 200 -220 ml water and 70 - 71 C and infused 50 seconds, all these asamushi teas were very clear and with well defined taste. My tetsubin has white rust dots inside, and at the last infusions I can really taste the sweetness it gives to the water.

I found Yuuki unremarkable and over priced until I tried this years asamsuhi shincha. I did a blind cupping of all of the asamushi; here is how they rank:
Sayamakaori – 1st place
Kantamidori – a close 2nd place
Okuyutaka – a lagging 3rd place
Tenryu – a very distant 4th
Uji – a close 5th

I would only recommend the first two. That said, the others were only disappointing in comparison. I have placed an order for another 100g of Sayamakaori and 100g of Honyama and will cup them when they arrive –maybe against some of my Uji favorites. I may post tasting notes later.
