Cannot say I ever experienced high tea, at least my conception of high tea complete with doilies and the like. I was drawn into the tea culture through interests in Asia, and I have not really ventured Western very much.

Oh, but I did have tea at 40,000 feet, a BYOT.

Began the TD with a tasting of Kunpu from Den's with SweeTea, Gandalf and Shincha ... a part of the Shincha OTTI. Elegant asamushi.

Yes, I've had "proper" afternoon tea probably a dozen times - mostly on vacation with family - and was part of my first introduction to tea. I enjoyed it partially because I had something to do while all the adults were talking, instead of just sitting there quietly I drank tea, ate the little desserts and sandwiches, and watched the people. I've had afternoon tea at various hotels wherever we happened to be (you can normally make reservations even if you're not staying at that hotel - that's what we'd normally do): a couple times in New York, at a resort in the middle of nowhere, WV, and most recently when I was on study abroad and my mother came to travel with me for 2 weeks - we had tea at the Ritz in Geneva and the hotel in which we were staying in Dublin, Ireland (not to mention a random snack-stop or two in the afternoons, at which time we'd usually have tea albeit not at all formal, just at a cafe).

Peach Flambee all day at work. I say all day, because I had a cup at 9am and a cup at 4pm, and that's it... so I'm about to go make more tea!!

I've had quite a few cream/afternoon/high teas but then I never got around to leaving Scotland.

By far the poshest and most proper was at One Devonshire Gardens here in Glasgow. Sandwiches, cakes, cream and tea are fairly frequent in the house and when visiting certain friends, though never very formal.

aaa milan dan cong from Jing today. Nice but not great.

I quite enjoy an afternoon tea on occasion. My friend and I are going to try going to the Fairmont in San Francisco this Sunday for afternoon tea.

I have also been fortunate to have afternoon tea at a beautiful French-style tea room in Tokyo, Japan. A bit pricey, but totally worth it. There was a waiter there bilingual in French and Japanese. Very cool. :D

Needed caffeine in a hurry after leaving the house last night, didn't have time to make any before leaving, roommate suggested Starbucks.... got a chai latte since I can't drink coffee... it was ok (read: drinkable, but definitely not good), but I really do need to learn to make my own.

I'm a day late. Oh well.

Yes, I've had formal tea several times in England, New York City, and San Francisco. It feels somewhat elegant and decadent and is great fun. "Tea", as the British call it, is SOP in our house since we tend to have dinner/supper early (5-5:30ish).

Some nice scones and cream integrated into the daily teafest and you're there. Chanitilly cream is something to look out for, it's devine. It's nigh on butter but is loaded with sugar and vanilla. Fresh strawberries or raspberries won't hurt, jam might be even better. I like both.

Kinda wasted on sencha though, you need tea that can cope with cream and sugar. I don't take tea with milk or sugar but I occasionally take tea that holds up well when I'm snaffling loads of cream and cakes. Good black/red wins here.

I have never been forgotten when I and my friends were in the restaurant to try their tea. The tea was flavored well and it has an exceptional taste. And the cream tea has a various recipes that is concentrated in the flavor of the tea.
