Fanatical but in somewhat different way: I have more teapots than needed for my favorite types of tea: about ten houhins for gyokuro and sencha and even more chawan for matcha.

Kuradashi gyokuro in a few minutes.

Pretty much so, I guess I would say.
Not totally Fanatical about it though.

In my cup this morning my new favorite Darjeeling:
Tea Emporium 2010 FF Turzum

Have a nice day everyone!

"i guess so...".
I do match somewhat with yixing, and kyusu, but only by tea type.
I don't match by specific tea (i.e. certain red or blond yixings I use for any oolong rather than specific oolongs, and 'purple' yixings get only puerh, but again, not specific pu's to specific pots; then kyusu for all sencha and even gyo; gaiwan or glass for whites or chinese greens).

just broke a tooth - eeeeek! Upper molar.

Working to get myself to the dentist now.

deep breath, sigh.

cheers.

Too much matcha is bad for your teeth!

Yunnan Golden Curls for 1st cup of the TeaDay. Then, Formosa Ruby Black.

Received my Second Flush Darjeeling/Assam sample tasting tea from Lochan today. I think I'll prefer these to the First Flush--who knows, though? :)

Heh, love all the ducks in a row shot, TIM! Thanks for coloring TD.

I would say I am pretty fanatical at matching a pot to the tea. I will pick a particular pot or pots for particular sencha, etc. And if brewing oolong or white, etc, I continue the practice. I guess I want the best pot for the job!

Began the TD with a tasting of Kinari Shincha from Maiko, outstanding asamushi! Last time I brewed this, it was in a Deishi Kyusu ... was not a pleased as this time in a Tokoname. Not sure if there is a conclusion in there or not? SweeTea joined the tasting while Gandalf and Shincha were just visiting the TeaTable this morn.

Next up, a blend of Yutaka Midori from the O-C blending with the last of a Sae Midori organic. Outstanding as well!

I love searching for, and sometime purchasing, new tea ware, but not fanatical about matching tea ware to teas.

Exceptions are that at home I always brew my sencha in my kyusu, and use my hagi cup. But I also brew green oolongs in that same kyusu (its glazed).

At work I have two IngenuiTEA's - one for greens (including green oolong) and another for all else.

"I guess so." I have a few yixing pots dedicated to certain types of tea (young sheng, shupu, etc). I also have 3 gaiwans (different sizes) that are very versatile.

Today was a fun day. Decided to cup 2 different roasted TKY from the Tea Gallery; Classic Roast & Elegant Queen. Even though the teas are quite different, it turned out to be great fun! :D

The Classic Roast had notes of dark chocolate, cherries, and a caramel smoothness that lead to a cooling huigan. Elegant Queen had a very unique lime acidity and some citrus notes, but also deep complexity and a nice play between sour & sweetness on the tongue.

Not sure which I prefer, they are both wonderful.

I think if you have enough pots it can be fun, and more enjoyable to match your tea with your pot. Personally i am a gaiwan man myself, so i don't worry myself with this stuff to much. One yellow gaiwan, one server, and a ton of tea cups to share my tea! =)

... next up, a tasting of Kunpu from Den's which was superb! Brewed in the kyusu I have had the longest which is perfect for Asamushi-cha.

Not really, but I have been known to actually use my gaiwan once in a while... mostly for new tea to see differences between small steeps, most of the time for oolongs (if I have time and am at home). Since a lot of my tea time is at work, it tends to be (lately, anyway) the same few teas in an infuser in a SplitFire mug. Even at home, I tend to use the same pot over and over, or my IngenuiTea (which sees most of its use when no one else wants tea or I'm alone - which is fairly often).
