Same here same here.. love the Pu Erh. I mix things up with Sencha now and then, but stick to Chinese oolongs or puerhs usuallynickE wrote:Most of the tea I drink is chinese, maybe 80%? With Puerh dominating my tea consumption and my love for Yunnan Blacks, this is expected.
Today I'm breaking that trend with some Fukamushi Sencha Yame from Den's. Yum!!!

Interesting to learn how your Japanese green habit started, Chip!Chip wrote:I used to drink a LOT of Chinese tea, would say 70-80% of the tea sessions were Chinese. Every day started with a Keemun black, then an oolong, then Chinese greens the rest of the day. Later I switched to almost all Chinese greens.
Then Japanese tea hit home, now on average 20% perhaps are Chinese. During Shincha, even less.

By far the majority of the tea I drink is Chinese. Things like the current shincha otti or a package of first flush tea from India might change things momentarily but overall China is well in the lead. I also heard that there is a lot of tea in China, so I think unless my tastes change dramatically China will be in the lead for a while.

Oy another earthquake here. And now that I'm out from under my desk - I'm having some Lu Shan Oolong from Tea Masters Spring 2009.

Still a little dizzy--that one rolled so long I got motion sick.
Now trying to recover with some candy sours and Tie Guan Yin (from Anxi, in China).

Soooo glad I don't live out that way. Don't know that I could take that.Victoria wrote:I know! I was feeling a little dizzy too.

Joining the discussion a little late today, but I'll go with probably 30-40%. I'm still discovering where the teas I like come from, (I know, that makes me a slacker) and still exploring so much that it's hard to say.
Yunnan Noir all day at work, some Silver Needles post- dinner this evening.

No quake here, just blistering heat. 100* for the second day in a row. Glad to hear you are all well.
TD, just got two teas in today. Still some prelim tasting for OTTI Round 4, Shincha Encore. Takumi from Zencha to kick it off followed by Rishi's Nishi Organic with the Mrs.
Hoping for a cooler day tomorrow, but might break down and cold brew for relief.

Finished off the day with Wuyi Da Hong Pao that really hit the spot.
My Oolongs lately have been on the lighter side so the change was nice.
Re: Wednesday TeaDay 7/7/10 Chinese Tea Consumption?
So far this year my tea diet has been 40% Chinese (890gr) and 60% (1355gr) Japanese. My son and I just had a nice session with Hou de's ``Lin Tou'' Milan dancong brewed in a qing shui ni fang gu -- I really love a good medium-roasted dancong.
Re: Wednesday TeaDay 7/7/10 Chinese Tea Consumption?
I don't know if it's Teachat or a natural evolution of my taste but I went from 95% Chinese greens, 5% Japanese greens, to 25%/75%. My favorite chinese green is Jasmine Silver Needle, and sometimes I feel as if sencha is the meal and jasmine is the dessert.
Re: Wednesday TeaDay 7/7/10 Chinese Tea Consumption?
Between 90-100% Chinese teas. The reason is that probably 90% of my tea is yancha and then some chinese greens. I do drink some Japanese shincha though.
