My first matcha bowl!
My first matcha bowl arrived today... broken. I am a wreck, crying a river of tears into my broken bowl.

Re: My first matcha bowl!
Where did you get it? Have you tried contacting the vendor and sending the photo's?
As unless the box was completely smashed it might have been a major packing flaw.

The vendor has been extremely helpful and my replacement is already in the mail. I even got some free tea thrown in! I'll be sure to do a vendor review when the situation is all worked out.

Oh no!! How sad!! Glad the vendor is being responsive. Let us know how it all works out.

Sorry to hear about that. Rotten way to start of the Chadogu collecting habit. Think of it as a reminder of the vary "sabi" aspects of life which is such a part of chanoyu.
But nice to hear that the supplier is standing behind it. Soon you'll have a new chawan to explore.
best,

Bummer, this made me wonder, I don't think I ever received broken teaware ... is that bad karma to say that?
Better luck with your next Chawan!

Re: My first matcha bowl!
One of the very first chawan I ever bought arrived broken into several pieces - the result of a very stupid seller who only wrapped the outer box, but didn't wrap the bowl inside the box.
Sadly, it was not one that I could request a new one be sent, but an older kutani bowl, about 40 years old. I've not seen another like it in two years of looking.

I would say the bad karma of that bowl was shown to you. Now, you'll get another one with good karma. Consider yourself having good karma.thediminished5th wrote:Maybe my broken bowl is a reflection of my bad karma?!
