Where Can I buy Good Korean Green Teas?

by 0608 » Jul 14th, '10, 14:05

My interest was piqued when I first heard about Korean green tea.

I would love to try premium Korean green teas.
However, I could not find any Korean green tea where I live.

Does anyone know a reliable online store that I can buy good Korean green teas?

Thanks,

http://www.hankooktea.com/

It has been a good year or two since I ordered from them, but they seem to be a pretty well respected vendor for Korean greens.

Nice Korean wares too.

this blog has some other suggestions that also look good, but I have not ordered from any of them.

Actually, I have been considering a Korean Tea OTTI (Official TeaChat TeaTasting Intitiative). It would likely include greens.

3 sources of Korean green tea that I would try are:

Postcard Teas or East Teas in U.K.(I think owned by same group)
Darjeeling.cz

These vendors go to Korea and buy from the small farms located in Jirisan, the best tea growing region in Korea. They should have authentic, handmade teas and are probably organically grown. Ujeon is top grade and smallest leaves. It is the most expensive. Sejak, is 2nd grade or picking, still good but costs less. I haven't tried these vendors Korean teas yet, but, I will.

From my experience, the best teas come from Jirisan. I was told this by most Korean tea people and when I was there, this was apparent from drinking teas all over Korea. Some may disagree. Most Jirisan teas are handmade and organic. Mostly small farms.
