Market research time!
A friend of mine is working part time for a very nice Chinese woman who sells silk. We started talking about what can be made from remnants for tea service, and one thing I am enamored by (but seldom find) are silk pouches for yixing pots.
Of course, a slightly different design is highly prized in the appreciation of Chanoyu, and practitioners will be much more demanding of the workmanship. I have heard, though, that a lot of this work is custom ordered from a seamstress who is already aware of the unique quirks.
So, my friend has made for me a prototype, some improvements will be made, but what do you think? How many of these would you buy in different sizes? How much would you spend? Any other thoughts?
I believe the pouches I have from China are silk or cotton on the outside, and cotton inside with no batting/padding. My friend added a layer of batting to my prototype and I feel it is much more protective than the Chinese, but somewhat less flexible.
The pot pictured is roughly 90ml.

Re: Yixing Pouches?
Very nice, looks nicer than the Chinese ones I have seen.
... now if I only had Yixing to put in one.

Re: Yixing Pouches?
Beautiful! I would probably buy one. But I'm a sucker for brocade; it's lovely. Definitely needs the layer of padding. I guess I'd pay up to $20, but not more. Maybe offer it in 3 sizes?
Re: Yixing Pouches?
Definitely on the 3 sizes - "gong fu" - medium (150ml) and large (200ish).

A small thing, but black cord would look more elegant.
Might raise the price though, still ...
