Aging raw puerh

One of the intentionally aged teas, Pu-Erh has a loyal following.

Aging raw puerh

by bagua7 » Sep 2nd, '10, 02:24

I got a 1999 sheng cake and would like to age it for as long as I can. My question is what't the best way of storing it as well as storage location.

Main problem: I live in a semi-tropical region where high humidity during 6-7 months of the year is the norm.

Thanks in advance.

That's not a problem, You live in an ideal environment.
70% Humidity is ideal for aging Pu-erh.

Best is you outsource the storage. I don't mind storing it for you at the charge of sampling it once a month

That shows a lot of responsibility on your part.
A lot of people just throw it in a box and forget about it.
I admire your dedication. :D
And I offer my help at sampling time. :D

I'm hoping a combination of the Scottish climate, cental heating, insulation and double glazing will provide something pleasant.

I do worry that my pu'er is something that I shouldn't worry about. The ideal solution seems to be forgetting I bought it and redisovering it one day.

and hopefully it is not full of fungus and maybe mushroom

I think having a proper storage + checking them out once in a while is ideal
