Yes, but will it be embraced by the more Western medical sciences?
I would love to believe that tea will be the miracle cure of the millenium, but I am not holding my breath. I do believe it has positive effects that will likely never be synthesized by the pharmaceutical industry. And we all know how Western medicine is driven?!?!!!
So therefore, it will not be embraced by Western medicine, it will always fall into the eye rolling category.
Still, I am certain that Japanese green tea has prevented many of the annual illnesses I used to have every single year ... now none.

I just finished a cup of yerba mate, first one in a long time, I should sleep like a baby tonight.

Artmom, I really like the Harney and Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice, have you tried it in the decaffeinated or rooibos?

Oh, began the TD with Warashina Supreme organic asamushi from the O-C ... this stuff has added 20 years to my life.

SweeTea had a tasting while Pyrit and Shincha kept company.
Now a random sencha ...

Katy, I haven't tried either of those. Have never tried any rooibos, and very few decaffeinated teas.

Mate is -loaded- with caffiene...one cup of Yerba Mate gets me buzzed like slurping coffee all night at a 24/7 restaurant!

Although it has caffeine, or mateine, I did drink it once at 7:00 at night at a dinner while everyone else had espressos and was able to sleep. I don't have it after 3:00pm when I do have it, but it really does balance the sleep cycles, every time I have a cup (I usually keep it to a once a week treat on Fridays after work) I sleep better than ever!

A friend of mine talked me into trying some a bit back, and I was flying the entire day! I co-worker asked me a few days later 'what was that happy tea you were drinking'. Have not touched it since, too powerful for me!
Doubtful on any miracles for tea. It's a healthy drink compared to all the junk that is popular among most today though.
Finally had some sencha today, been since this weekend! Uji Sencha Miyabi from O-Cha. Itching to break into cold storage for that YM Supreme, but am making myself wait till my supply on others is a bit lower.

I´m one of those people that needs caffiene to be "normal" too...if I don´t have any I don´t sleep well.

Hi Artmom, you should try rooibos, it's really delicious and has a lot of health benefits. I especially like the caramel rooibos from Adagio, just finished a cup with my hubbie.

I tried Rooibos the first time yesterday...it´s dark and sweet. You´d probably enjoy it since you like black teas artmom
a little warning with Rooibos...it makes me seriously drowsy after I drink it...I think a bedtime only "tea"

Honestly, I really don't care about the health benefits of tea. I drink it because I like the taste, anything else is just a plus.
Two 2010 Puerh today, many people would think I'm insane. Oh well, I enjoy them.
I'm feelin' something light after that, maybe Sencha Shin-Ryoku from Den's. This tea has really grown on me, it's buttery & complex.

Some good tea in the morning makes me happy - and happiness is good for my health.
In my cup this morning - something called Chun Lu green tea that I bought from Harney's last winter. All I know about it es that it's from Zhejiang Province, it's lasted quite well since last year in a tin at the back of the closet, and I like it better now than when I first bought it. I'm sure it's the improved brewing techniques that I've learned here.

I haven't gotten sick since I've been drinking tea every day - about 2 years now. I do wonder if drinking tea has prevented me from becoming sick with colds/flus.
