For me, the aesthetic experience of my teaware and whatever I'm doing at the moment combine to make the mood of the tea session. So I guess it's both?
Yunnan black tea with dinner tonight, followed by some iced green tea. Currently drinking a chrysanthemum tisane.

Re: Wednesday TeaDay 9/8/10 Pairs and pears?
Tea is something I enjoy integrated into my daily activities, not a time set apart. So it is always accompanied by something else--working, reading, cooking, surfing. I like my nicer teawares because they are a way to sneak some extra enjoyment into my day.
Today, Chado puerh, that came with a 1992 attached, but not sure if that is really the manufacturing date, or about ripe/shu. It was nice, although suffering a bit from the plastic thermos cup. And now some Anxi Tie Guan Yin from Jing Tea Shop, an amazingly sweet lovely tea, enjoyed in the little celadon mug from Hankook, which definitely adds something to the experience, and also brewed up a nice bit of silver needle a while before.

Interesting responses, interesting how teaware almost dethrowned the nonteaware pairing. Interesting, but not surprising.
Finished the TeaDay with some Long Jing at the MIL's with the Mrs., albeit older LJ, but it was still pretty good.
