Hi... my name is Don and I'm a new tea junkie.
I quit drinking all softdrinks on August 9th after turning 50 years old and have been simply drinking water and tea as my only beverages of choice except a glass of red wine occasionally in the evenings. I started using bagged tea from the supermarket but when on vacation in Florida a few weeks ago I stopped into the "Tea and Spice Exchange" in St. Augustine and was amazed at the varieties and wonderful smells. Additionally, I think all of the cool teaware is pretty neat too! I purchased some 1.5oz samples of Green, Black and Herbals that are just awesome. Now I'm soaking up all I can learn about tea, its history, differences and how to enjoy it in the best ways. I even ordered two tea trees from a Tropical Plant Greenhouse! I know... slow down and smell the tea!

Welcome, Quitting all soft-drinks was a good idea. I keep a pitcher of iced tea in the fridge to take the place of sodas.
Battery acid has a PH of 0.5
Cherry Coke has a PH of 2.5
Water has a PH of 7
That's way I make my tea from water!

Re: I'm trying to sponge knowledge
The world of tea is infinitely more vast than the village of soda. You will never run out of new leaves to try and knowledge to soak up. Welcome to teachat.
Re: I'm trying to sponge knowledge
Giving up soda can be hard, but tea is so much more enriching.
I have some friends in St. Augustine btw.

Re: I'm trying to sponge knowledge
Thanks for the warm welcome. I did the beginner modules of TeaClass.com last night. Pretty interesting. I hope to get through the rest in a few days. So far I'm still kind of partial to the black and green tees. I do like a stronger flavor.
I hope to keep up with this forum.

Ahoy Don!
Interesting the the S&T Exchange got you really in to tea. I visited one myself in Boca and not long after that I ended up here. There is A LOT of information to soak but, but its fun, and tastes great too.
If you haven't yet, be sure to read through Adagio's tea classes. Lots of good info there as well.
