Hi all
I have a chance to be in Hong Kong 21st-24th. Any ideas on good hotels and must visit tea spots ?
Re: Going to Hong Kong Nov 21st-24th
If you're not going on business / are paying for your own hotel, stay in a guest house, and save the extra money for tea. You can get a nicer hotel for more money, but if you stay in a guest house, you can probably save 40-50% at least.
Depending on what area you want to stay in, I had a pretty good experience at Sealand House in Tsim Sha Tsui (Jiān Shā Zuǐ). The rooms are small, but pretty easy to get to places from there. http://www.sealandhouse.com.hk
There are a couple others in the same building.
Best Tea House, Lam Kie Yuen, Lau Yu Fat would be some places probably worth checking out, and maybe Henry Trading Co. Don't try to fit in too much tea stuff if you're just there for a few days. If you want to try some expensive, but probably reliable, old puer, you might spend some time at Sunsing's teahouse. I didn't end up doing it while I was there. Definitely only something to do if you've got a few hundred+ to burn on 7-10g of some really, really old tea.
Also, have a look at Nicolas's excellent site with a list of places to shop for puer in HK.

I went to the Teaware Museum; mostly because I was already over that way. Maybe worth a visit if you're nearby, but wouldn't necessarily seek it out. There's a small Sheung Yu branch there as a "gift shop", and a vegetarian dim sum / snack place that's also part of the same complex (http://www.lockcha.com). Again, not worth a special trip (unless you're vegetarian).

Re: Going to Hong Kong Nov 21st-24th
thanks for the fast response - it is vacation, I am going to be in Guam for business and taking a few days on the way back to stop in HK. I have been to HK before, so seeing Victoria Harbor/ star ferry/ Mongkok and other sites are not as important.
Sealand House looks interesting - very cheap at under $50 US a night ...

You absolutely have to visit the Tea Museum in located in Hong Kong Park. It isn't big, but it has some really incredible pieces. The nearby teahouse is expensive, but very pretty and the waitresses are a lot of fun.

I'm free on Nov 21 and can take you to visit some of the puerh tea shops in Kowloon.
