Hi ALL - new Teachatterer here!

by jodiklaus » Oct 28th, '10, 09:45

Hi everyone! I'm very excited to join all of you and learn all about drinking tea! Just a little info on me....

I had tried drinking tea for years and just couldn't admire the taste. A few months ago, I was in a mall and came across Teavana. There I discovered the reason I did not like tea. The first being I was using artificial sweeter which ruins the tea for me and second that I had not realized there was loose tea! It makes all the difference for me. Now I'm on board and a teaholic!

The first tea I tried there was a blend of Samurai chai mate and White ayurvedic chai. I love the blending and chai! This tea remains my favorite overall. At a tea tasting last week I discovered Repulic of Tea and have a facination for their Hibiscus Pineapple blend.

A few weeks ago my hubby and I traveled to Austria, Germany and Switzerland. I made a point to visit a tea shop in each country and brought back about 30 different teas! I haven't gotten thru tasting them all yet, but what fun I had talking with the locals about their tea!

I just purchased from Octavia Tea and Culinary Tea this week (samples) so I'll try the samples and then be ordering from Culinary if I like what I purchased. I'm very excited to try their Pumpkin Cream as pumpkin pie is my favorite pie.

A tea shop I visited recently, sold me a Zojirushi for $20 so I'm all setup at home to make tea nonstop and boy have I been!

Aside from Tea I'm a stay at home mom and sculpter/artist.

Thanks for reading!
Jodi

Thanks everyone! I'm sure I'll learn ALOT from all of you here.

Twopynts - I sculpt both miniatures (mostly food) and then children (also in miniature). I'm planning on working on a series of teapots after the holidays.

Krabbenhueter - Guten Tag! I visited 5 different shops. Even when I wasn't looking I would find one wherever I went! In Salzburg, Austria I visited Tea & Co. They were probably my favorite in that they spent 30-45 minutes showing me all their tea. The next stop was House of Tea & Coffee in Innsbruck. I REALLY loved his setup and the small shop/cozy feel. Unfortunately I only had about 15 minutes before he closed so I only picked up two teas. Then we visited Augsburg and I went to Tee Gschwendner. They were very nice there also. I believe they have multiple locations and one in Switzerland too. On to Munich I visited Eilles. WOW! If you've never been, it's a treat! There is SO Much to look at! I brought back about 7 from them. Last in Lucerne, Switzerland I went to The Queen Camilla Tea House. This was probably my least favorite and least helpful. Not to mention the Swiss have high prices. Alot of the tea was not available for "smelling." I had to rely on my nose to tell me if I'd like a tea since I speak very little German.

Have you been to any of these?
