Red Label Tea

A friend from India recently brought me a box of Red Label tea and it is the most unnusual looking tea I've seen. It's all tightly curled up dark leaves, and when I drink it it seems to be just packed with caffene.

Can anyone tell me anything more about this kind of tea? Does it really have that much more caffiene and why? What type of tea could it be? It doesn't say on the box, atleast not in English.

Just curious if anyone knows anything more of this tea which acts more like coffee than a soothing tea.

red label tea is assam tea from india. its a product of brook bonde (spelling?), an english tea company.
There are four advantages to green tea... Its beauty, its taste, its aroma, and its health benefits. Learn to enjoy the first three and you'll forget you drank it for the fourth. ^^

Thanks for the reply PeteVu! That makes sense.. it just doesn't taste like other teas I have tried before. It's pretty good doctored up with ginger and fresh orange peel, etc. and my friends always drink it with milk I guess to help dilute the caffiene and its strong taste.
