Types of Green Tea

by bigmonstertruck » Nov 7th, '10, 11:30

Ok, I got the shincha vs. sencha thing. But is there anywhere online that has a good primer on the types and styles of greens and the various aspects such as comparative tastes? For example, I here people talking about Fuki (or something like that) and light versus dark steamed sencha. I would like to know more. Please advise.

It sounds like you are asking about sencha-s? Of course there is a lot of information here and on the internet. Sometimes vendor sites offer a lot of info. O-Cha has a lot if you are interested (they had a great glossery, seems to be down at the moment). But there are others as well including Den's, Maiko, Ippodo, and Hibiki-an. Vendor sites tend to gear you towards what they offer, which is OK as long as you know that as you read. Also the pages might not be right on the shopping pages.

There are 2 topics on TC about asa, chu, fuka ...

Heh, you may find members can be a bit loyal to there steaming level of choice ...

I have honestly gained a lot of insight and info right here on the forum, reading, discussing, sharing info with others.
