Coca-Cola to introduce new tea flavors

Atlanta Business News 6:13 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2010

Coca-Cola Co. is rolling out four new varieties of Fuze and Gold Peak teas to accentuate flavors that have grown in popularity in recent years. Fuze raspberry and unsweetened green tea should be available for restaurant operators by December, with green tea and tropical versions of Gold Peak available early next year.

Raspberry and tropical flavors are among the top 10 demanded flavors in restaurants, according to research group Mintel, while green tea's popularity has grown because of perceived health benefits.

"As the fresh-brewed tea market continues to grow, [restaurant] operators are seeking new options to satisfy health-conscious customers with a variety of taste preferences," said Scott Young, Coca-Cola's senior vice president of foodservice strategy and marketing.

"As the fresh-brewed tea market continues to grow" - let's feed them Coca-Cola with a splash of tea.

Well, I've already had Green Tea Sprite, so I'm not too surprised. I'm sure they only use the finest Green Teas in all of their products.

Yes, they are surely using the finest. And the very fine tea is found when sweeping the floors in tea processing plants !

Sadly, I would assume that a majority of people in this modern era will be introduced to and drink their tea from a bottle, never realizing the joys and health benefits of the loose leaf.
:?
I would drink Coke from Coke, but not tea from Coke.

And I thought it was Ice Cucumber Pepsi, three years ago, in Japan.

Sometimes I feel like Coca Cola is the manifestation of evil. It is so artificial, so fake, so unnatural, so unhealthy, my cousin drank it all his life, now at the age of 18 he has kidney stones, and one of his kindeys stopped working, and he is addicted to cola. How dare they sell bottled tea, if more people were health councious, the coca cola company would go bancrupt.

I think Coke is pretty far from "the manifestation of evil." I actually think they have a brilliant marketing strategy.

If people are somehow blind to the nutrition facts label, that is their own fault.

Yeah that's exactly the most devil side. Their market strategy is actually legalized conspiracy. Food industries fight off their butts to influence FDA nutrition guidelines and to make nutrition facts labels as confusing as possible, and as small as possible. And they constantly threat to sue people who educate the public on nutrition.

As for the coke, if they use real plant source ingredient for the tea flavor, it's already a progress

39g of sugar in a can of Coke seems pretty clear to me. I'm not looking for an fight, though, just offering an alternative point of view.

I enjoy a Coke every once in a while. Moderation in all things.

(except tea of course!)

Nutrition labels can be such a farce ...

Way off subject, but the inclusion of trans fat info ... Nabisco, etc. can say Zero grams trans fat all over the place including the nutrition label as long as they manipulate the serving size ... and the serving has .5 grams or less trans fat. I mean who eats just 4 crackers ...

But how anyone in a non 3rd world country cannot know Coke is not good for you ... yet seemingly they do not. Marketing Green Tea Coke as a healthful drink ... there is a bit of evil in that.
