Hello! From Fort Worth, Texas

by TxAg1994 » Nov 11th, '10, 15:25

Hello everyone, I am a 38 year old mother of two from Fort Worth, Texas. I was on a business trip in Kansas City, MO a few weeks ago and fell in love with lose leaf tea. I had two hours to spend before meeting with a client and I walked around and found a little place called Shang Tea. 75% off of a jade necklace brought me into the store and I walked out of the store with two tea mugs, a tea pot and 5 different teas!

I am one of those people that thought tea was ice cold and sweetened with something! Boy was I wrong.

My only complaint about lose tea is that I can't find any "GOOD" tea locally. I have been looking and trying every where I go, any suggestions on a place to buy locally?

I love White Peony King and something called Tangerine Blossom Red.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum! I can't help you with local, but you will be lucky to find the variety and quality locally anyway. Why limit yourself with the whole world of tea at your fingertips on the internet?

Enjoy!

Welcome Texas Aggie! :D

A quick search shows you have some tea rooms in Ft. Worth. Perhaps visit one or two and see if they can help you. Victoria is right though, online is a great way to go. I suggest starting with Adgio's samplers and expanding your horizons from there.

Welcome to the forum! For local tea you may check out the Cultured Cup in dallas. I have only been there once, but they have a good selection of different teas and some very nice teaware. The address is 8312 Preston Center Plz Dallas, Texas. But if you want the best, freshest tea, i recomend ordering online.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I have placed a few on-line orders and I guess I'll just keep experimenting with flavors!

Hi Tex, welcome to TeaChat. I hope to see you around the forum! Please share what is in your cup on TeaDay.

The conundrum we all face is why can't we get good tea locally ...

Welcome.

I think Space Samurai is from Fort Worth but he's not been about here for a while, I don't recall him mentioning any local tea shops but that may say more about my memory than the local tea scene. Online is the way to go, a nice local teashop is a bonus.

Our host site Adagio has samples of a huge range of teas and would be a great intro. They have white peony and an orange black/red tea.

Personally I'm in awe that I can order tea that has been plucked, steamed, vaccum packed, and in the space of a few weeks go from the bush to my cup with updates all along the way.

I can second the recommendation for the Cultured Cup. I've tasted several teas from them through an online group, and though their online website is quite limited, the actual shop apparently has quite a large selection of teas, and what sounds like a pretty active tea tasting club. All the teas I've had from them have been very good representatives of the various types of teas--whites, sencha, herbals. I've ordered several after tasting them and the service has been good.
