I have to correct that I did not try maiko's shuppin-sencha as I previously thought. It was maruyama from maiko. Very good anyway.
I've since had a helping of den's tea shin-ryoku. Impressed with these asa's, gotta say. Very happy with this OTTI

Not surprised at all. The internet is where I turn to first when I have a new interest. Its not to often I have people I know to discuss them with. I remember the days of going through text based boards on CompuServe
as well. What is surprising is that I am posting, I am usually a profestional lurker
Lot's of green tea today, don't usually do more than one session a day, but OTTI's to sample! I am just sampling the Asa OTTI since I mostly drink Fukamushi already. These are actually the first Asa's I have tried since discovering better quality tea. The Maruyama from Maiko was very enjoyable.

Just had some Long Jing, threw the leaves in my stir fry when I was done, added an interesting and good taste to it. Probably going to try another OTTI asa in a moment.

I said maybe, yes. I like to talk about my interests with people, but aside from one other forum about my favorite manga, I don't go on forums very often. So that's why it wasn't an immediate yes-- forums aren't something I usually seek out, although I'm very glad I found this one.

Ive been drinking tea since i was a kid..but never been a real uhh..connoisseur perhaps? until the past few years. I found this searching for some info and was very pleasantly surprised to find such an awesome and active community. You all are stuck with me for a while

I said maybe. I tend to be obsessive about my hobbies, heh.
Asamushi Sencha a la Togei today (OTTI), really hit the spot.

No surprise to be here. I have found a lot of good stuff in online forums and e-mail groups, and the most active groups are moving to forums like these. This is one of the best I've found on any topic, and certainly is among the most active with regards to tea.
After lonely drinking yesterday--a quart of lovely 2007 white bud sheng puerh from norbu all to myself--today has been a sharing day. Started with sencha with breakfast, a particularly nice rich brewing of the Yuuki-cha sayamakaori, and then on to share some of Norbu's Huang Jin Gui at work with a candidate interviewing for a position with us, and while that particular batch might have been losing a bit of it's freshest bloom after being opened for more than a month now, I think it still helped to leave a good impression on her. I also got to baptize some of my new cups with a properly shared tea session.
Then....well....a mistake. I was slow getting the afternoon thermos prepped, and after some good results with quite a few oolongs and puerhs recently from setting the tea to hot water in the Kamjove while I go down to lunch--ending up with mostly one very concentrated brewing, and pouring enough additional water through the leaves afterwards to get most of the residual flavor--I struck out. My Phoenix Honey Iris oolong from Wing Hop Fung turned rather unpleasantly bitter. Sigh. It wasn't horrible so it was still traded around a bit in the afternoon clinic, but people weren't clamoring for seconds, and much was mercifully dispatched down the sink before the evening session with Precious Rare [Anji] White Tea from WHF. Sweet, spicy, vegetal, rich, washed the sadness of the Phoenix honey iris failure right away. I love this stuff.

Yes, why not.
Before teachat I was already involved in several forums online so a tea forum wasn't to far a stretch but I would never have guessed how much fun it would become or how involved I would get. Teaday polls are just to hard to resist.
