I think this whole thing comes from not understanding the difference between a tea kettle and a tea pot. Also many vendors want to sell iron pots at very high prices...I´m thinking they get good margins on them so they like to perpetrate myths about how great iron teapots are.fracol wrote:Some people here will probably disagree with me, but I really recommend a cast iron teapot. They are great for brewing almost all types of tea. Not to mention if you treat them right they season to make your tea taste even better.
Iron tea kettle with season over time and improve the water for brewing some types of tea...you only boil water in this, tea leaves should never go inside.
Iron tea pot...almost always has lining to prevent chemical interaction between the tea and teapot, also the high heat retention will ruin any tea that needs to be brewed at low temperature. They´re generally considered inferior to other types of pots for any kind of tea you can find something better.
Porcelain is probably the best jack of all trades for teapot material.
