Greetings

by fracol » Nov 30th, '10, 14:56

Hello my name is Frazer,

Im a 15 year old male, and really just got into tea a few years ago. So far I have had wonderful experiences with the beverage, and can't wait to introduce myself.

How long?
I would say probably about three years. I stumbled into a Teavana at age 13 with little more than 10 bucks. They quickly realized they wouldn't get much off me so I kind of just looked around a bit trying to look busy, and attempting to get the courage to ask some questions. Thats when a very nice lady (the store manager) came up to me and asked if I would like something. I basically just asked for what their sample was and it ran me about 8 dollers. I was a little depressed since I had no knowledge of loose leaf tea and I had no idea how to brew it so I was just walking out more than a little discouraged when the store manager asked me if I knew how to make it. When I said no she quickly gave me (for free) a little device very very similar to the inginuitea. Taught me how to use it and I was on my way to the big time!!!

First tea?
My first real tea was a mountain black tea from Nepal. I can't offer many more details than that.

Favorite tea currently?
I perfer not to answer this question since their are so many great ones, but I am really enjoying a Yunnan black tea called Yi Mei Ren from Norbu Tea.

Next purchase?
Gosh I don't know I don't really have much money for tea. Im living the low budget teenager life, but I was really hoping to try some gyokuro or some Pu-erh cakes.

Favorite spot to brew?
Have never done this, but ideally I would be in a high mountain bamboo forest in China. A cool river rushing by my little log cabin. Outside it has just started a light snow! Weird eh?

It's tough for me sometimes since It seems no one my age can understand tea. Sometimes its a source for good natured ridicule, but all in all I am truly enjoying myself.

Hey Frazer, I was in a very similar situation to you, I started drinking tea seriously when I was 18- I was a skinny white skateboarder kid and nobody really understood why I liked it so much... I got made fun of for it, but I got a few friends into tea as well. It's really awesome to be able to enjoy a great cup. Just hang in there and do and drink what you love. This forum will help out alot.

Welcome to TeaChat, Frazer. I am hoping to see you around the forum!

It seems most tea drinkers are ... different from the mainstream. Different is better!

Not weird at all. In fact, I am lucky enough to be able to do this.

It's one of the many reasons I moved to China.

Guilin is dotted with mountains and most of them have caves. I know of one that has a cave in it that has the most incredible views. It is high up and the climb is a bit rough, but so worth it. I never get disturbed and I can sit and brew tea and read and paint, etc. for an entire day.

Oh, I forgot. Welcom to the forum Frazer.

good to see a fresh demographic on teachat!

Welcome, and seriously consider being a part of some of the OTTI's. Its only a few bucks ($7 or so? just pay Chip for shipping) and you can get some nice quality tea to experience. Puer is up next that's something you wanted to try.

It's great you found enjoyment in tea at an earlier age, I think the further you go down the tea road the more you will realize and appreciate the positive changes that tea has pushed you towards.
