Iced tea makers

by Crafty_Mom » Dec 14th, '10, 15:28

I am a hot tea drinker. Hubby, however, is an avid iced tea drinker. For the past few years, I've made him tea using a Mr. Coffee tea maker, which I absolutely hate. It leaks tea everywhere, sometimes tea backs up into the system (how, I'm not quite sure) and it is generally a pain in my butt.

So after a rather disastrous day of iced tea making today, I think it's time to move on to another kind.

Anyone have any suggestions on what kind of iced tea maker should come next? It doesn't have to be an automatic one. It can be some sort of pitcher that is used to brew.

It's a start, but something more in the quart range? Preferably 2-3 quarts?

Perhaps. I'm also considering getting a larger kettle than I currently have, using that to heat the water, then brewing in a pitcher.

I just use various Bodum coffee presses, have some large ones from when I first started drinking tea. I make a 2 or 3 or 4 X strength brew then dilute.

I use the plunger as a strainer, just don't plunge.

I use the large IngenuiTea... double up on leaf, pour over ice. I easily make in quart and half-gallon quantities this way.
