Removing stains from the Ingenuitea

by Teafortwo » Dec 15th, '10, 08:58

Hi,

I am new here and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for removing the tea stains from the Ingenuitea. My DH and I have had ours for over two years now and lately use it almost very day and it is looking a little dingy. We do wash it in the dish washer but because we brew black teas as well as white, green and oolong it has stained the filter. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Wash it with baking soda, that will remove tea stains.

... or vinegar solution ... and then rinsing thoroughly.

Or even a 5-10% bleach solution ... and then rinsing thoroughly.

These are recommendations for non porous materials.

You also might try switching your dishwasher detergent. I know I had that problem too, and when I switched, suddenly it was white and shiny clean! Unfortunately I can't remember the brand that worked so well. But I think it had lemon, if that helps. Try making a switch.

I do the bleach solution, give it a good soak, and then run it through the dishwasher. Looks like new after that.
