Re: Thursday TeaDay 1/20/11 Let's talk percentages ...
I said 30% because I try not to change my buying habits too much just depending on the season. That and quite a few of the teas I drink have much less emphasis on "New Harvest" in fact just about the only tea I drink regularly where it becomes a big deal is Sencha/Shincha. I am thinking 30 might be a bit high for this upcoming year, as I am not expecting to be buying Nada's 2011 pressings, due to a lack of depletion of my Puerh Collection.

I realized today, the question and poll is a bit flawed, but oh well!
I wanted to ask, what percentage will your purchases be right at harvest time which includes shincha, but there is not an exact term that fills the bill for most other teas.
So, anyway, around 25% of my tea purchases will be right at new harvest time ... and virtually 100% of my tea purchases will be first flush ... which is how some of you understandably read my question.

Ah perhaps seasonal might have been a better term than annual. I took it as How much of the money you spent in an entire year on Tea was spent on New Harvest teas.

0%, unfortunately, although it's for a very happy reason-- I have to drink all the wonderful tea my mother got me for Christmas!
Rose congou this afternoon. (I love how drinking tea automatically peps me up, even though caffeine doesn't affeect me. What a mystery.
) Currently waiting on water for a lavender-rooibos tisane.

I'd estimate about 80 percent. I had Ooigawa Supreme from O-cha this morning and Chicago Tea Garden Competition Grade TGY this afternoon. Still waiting for my 2010 Spring Handmade Imperial Shi Feng Long Jing to arrive from JK tea shop, so excited

Most of what I drink is spring harvest tea. the rest is summer tea, with autumn and winter teas being the least in my collection. I'm working on expanding winter teas though (as in taiwan oolongs). Whee. I'm 26 years old today.
