New to Pur-Erh

New to Pu-Erh. Bought Rishi Ancient Shu Classic Vintage Blend, Organic Fair Trade Pu-erh Tea.

For my first Pu-Erh experience, it was ok. Taste was as described, earthy, rich, and with aroma (and taste) of autumn leaves.

I was curious because every tenured tea drinker raves about "Puh." So, I wanted to try. I was not overly excited.

Is it that I need to evolve more into fine teas? Or, did I buy the wrong stuff for me?

I liked my first puerh, a Rishi Ancient Tree shu pu, but didn't start raving about the stuff until I discovered how to brew some lovely young shengs. Now you can't shut me up about it.

But the Rishi was just the gateway drug for me. The young sheng is the hard stuff.

Thanks for your reply. Here's how I prepare the Rishi Pu.

Pour boiled hot water in cup. Put teaspoon size "pinch" in a Finnium screen filter.

Put filter in cup of water (still hot) . then I let it rock and roll for three minutes.

It that cool or am I doing something wrong. Where do you get your young shengs?

I do appreciate your replies....thanks for helping me.

Some people brew their teas in a gaiwan when they first start brewing pu-erh gong-fu style. Some also brew their Pu-erh in a small Yixing teapot. Ask the guys who know their stuff - Marshaln, Brandon, EdKreuger, and the like. I'm sure they'd be willing to help.

Good Luck and Happy drinking!
