How do you make a chasen?

Hello to all Teachat Members.

Maybe this is a silly question, but I am curious about how they make chasen tea whisks. I mean the traditional way: is it a man carving bristle by bristle using a knife? Anyone of you ever tried to make hers or his?

Thanks Olivier, it is really intersting, I would like to learn such an art: but Japan is really far from here:

Every 1st + 3rd Sunday at the Takayama bamboo forest garden (Ikoma city) you can witness a public demonstration of bamboo whisk making.
