Kind of seasoning the tins ? Remove the metallic odour before storing tea in it ?

Re: Hazard a Guess?
Correct!
I bought the tins at a Chinese crockery store across the street from Ah Mings Tea Shop cost 8RM for 50gm, 8.50 for 100gm and 9RM for 150gm.
Ah Ming said they were an excellent item.
I said I had thought of using them to protext my teas in transit from airline baggage handlers - he looked horrified, picked up one of the tins took it to the front of the store where all his cheap teas are and poured some tea in.
"Never use a new tin for good tea" he said, "even if you can't detect it, there will be production process smells inside."
Put some unwanted tea in, give it a shake and leave for a week. Open, discard the tea which will have absorbed all production smells and leave to air out for a day or 2, then it is ready for a good tea.

If you haven't rubbed/cleaned the inside well I would suggest you do, not only do these have factory smell they also have lots of visible residue from manufacturing on the inside

Re: Hazard a Guess?
Yes. half the price of Birdpick, but I did have to pay for an airline ticket to get them home!
No evidence of any residue, but after the tea has been emptied out, I have to wipe them out and leave them in an airy location for 1 or 2 days.
