Otea China Green Grade A

by TeaSnobInTraining » Mar 19th, '11, 18:05

A local Chinese grocery store (CAM in Columbus, OH) has started selling less crappy teas by the ounce from a company called Otea. I brought home some of Otea's "China Green Grade A" and my wife loves it - enough to drink it instead of coffee. Imagine my horror when it started to run out and a return trip to the store showed they were no longer selling it. :( They added a few different green teas and I bought a couple ounces of each, but they don't do it for the wife. Poking around on the web and wholesale places brings up next to nothing about this "Otea" company. The only thing I could find about them is that they're apparently based out of South Korea somewhere, assuming it's the same Otea. Anyone know anything about this company and where I might be able to get more of the tea? Buying wholesale doesn't bother me if push comes to shove on it. I'll gladly buy 10 kilos if need be just to keep the coffee smell away.

That's one thing I've found with Asian grocery sores in my area too... There was one Taiwan TKY that I absolutely loved and they had it for a very short time and then it was gone. My local japanese market has a decent sencha selection and they even order shincha every year. With that said I like most people here have been burned far more times than I've been rewarded for buying tea from the Asian markets but the few that I've found that I have enjoyed nearly made up for flavorless sawdust teas. I really wonder what the owners of the Asian markets drink for their tea. I really hope it's not the same thing as they sell.
