I've been following obsessively. My best friend is studying abroad in Japan this year-- 6 hours away from the epicenter, thankfully-- so I was really scared that something would happen to her. We talk almost every night, so she's assured me by now that nothing's going to happen to her. (She's also my tea buddy! I miss her. )

Pu-erh all day and all night. Also, today a couple of friends and I went to a teahouse, and I had some green kukicha. Nom nom nom.

I have been following the news announcements about Japan. It may be a lot, relative to those who do not watch the news or turn on the radio as much. I keep hoping something big and promising makes it to the news. Not quite yet, it seems. But it is incredible that those affected are doing their very best, remaining peaceful, helping each other as much as possible. I just wish relief efforts and damage control could be more efficient so the country can celebrate recovery sooner.

Simple tea today, after a looooooong day of an energy healing class. A roasty Taiwan grown tiekuanyin in my trusty 3 oz porcelain gaiwan, decanted into a 2.5 oz demitasse. Nuts keep you full when you're too tired to cook dinner (note to self: keep bags of nuts in the fridge for emergency preparedess).

As I am pretty well homebound, I have been watching the coverage quite intensely. Trying to watch and read online as many different sources as possible; as usual, the US press loves to try to be as sensational as possible.

Granddaughter Samantha continues packing for her move there on April 5. She will be living and working in Chiba prefecture, southeast of Tokyo.

Hello all- newbie here jumping in on the discussion.

I have been following the tragic situation in Japan from day one. Japan is such a wonderful country and it's heartbreaking to read about what's happening. While the environmental disasters are bad enough, the pending nuclear situation is quite upsetting. My thoughts and prayers are with Japan and it's people.

As far as my tea for today, I had a cup of oolong from my local greenmarket vendor. It was delicious!

Today, drinking more of the Alishan oolongs, because they were so good yesterday.
