Hot water on the way?

Hello all

I wonder how to have tea in nature or anywhere where I have no access to a water boiler. I can get my tea-travel-set with me, but where to get hot (boiling?) water?

How do you do it?

You can use a vacuum insulated carafe to carry hot water if you´re just going a short distance...like your back yard. Otherwise I suppose you´d need some kind of portable burner and a kettle to use with it...

Yep, or just make a hobo stove out of an empty coffee can and use a regular kettle. Or if you want to get fancy, I've made this "penny stove" alcohol burner before for backpacking, and it works great!

I have no camping burner. Always camped with cold food or a campfire
This hobo stove looks great. I'm not a craftsman - with some things I have two left hands

How long would a good thermoscan keep water hot enough? Would it possibly work for green tea where you need no boiling water?
Or is it better to brew tea at home and give it in the thermos?

I have a backpacking stove. Its reliable and small, but you pay for it. REI or other camping stores typically have a nice selection. I have a Whisperlite which works great for hikes. The Jetboils are also supposed to be quite nice.
