japanese greens caffeine extraction
i have read that for extracting much of the caffeine from greens one would "steep" for 30 seconds then pour out and resteep for proper time. my question is, does this work the same for japanese greens as well?

Fact or fiction? This one is pretty much fiction. Not to mention you throw away the best steep for Japanese greens.
In order to reduce caffeine, it is likely better to do a reduced sized session with less leaf and water.

This has pretty much been established as fiction....so no....and it doesn´t work for other teas either. It takes more like on the order of 15 minutes to remove most of the caffiene from tea leaves so you´re better off infusing for 30s and drinking that!m147 wrote:i have read that for extracting much of the caffeine from greens one would "steep" for 30 seconds then pour out and resteep for proper time. my question is, does this work the same for japanese greens as well?
Or like Chip said make smaller infusions with less leaf and water....less leaf means less caffiene to dissolve total.
