Can anyone tell me anything about my pot?

by GoTea » Jun 6th, '11, 09:11

Hi,

I bought this teapot a while back in Wuhan, and was wondering if anyone knew about the maker or if it is any good.

Looks like the artist's name is 洪华平 (hónghuàpíng). Seems to be some kind of duanni in a Xishi shape. Hard to say much about the clay quality or authenticity based on a photo, especially that photo. Personally, I prefer the shape of the spout to be a little more fluid looking.

Here are a couple of other xishi pots, ostensibly by the same artist:

It might help if you can show some close-ups of the chop under the lid and under the pot - someone who can read better than I might be able to tell you if it was made by the artist or made in her workshop by an apprentice, for example.
