Teas Infuser Made in the USA?

by be_water_my_friend » Jun 5th, '11, 20:47

Greetings,

Recently I made the personal choice to try and buy most of the products I use from manufacturers in the USA, but i'm having a hard time finding a stainless tea infuser that fits the bill. Can anyone suggest one?

many thanks!

At some point, maybe not worth stressing over point of origin of such a tiny thing? But if it bothers you, maybe you could just not use an infuser - use a strainer or a teapot with a built in filter / strainer?

ps - Hope you're not going to stick to US grown tea, or you may not have a lot to put in that infuser basket.

i cannot say for certain this bodum infuser is made in the usa - probably not - but you can contact the company and ask.

According to Amazon reviews it's made in China, FWIW.

Esp for tea/teawares, after all tea is a part of many different cultures . I think if you stick to only teawares made in USA you are really restricting yourself from many good teawares. Keep in mind teaware evolves over time, the US has had a fairly short history of tea compared to other countries. But yeah I understand, the economy is bad :( I also see the benefit/logic in buying local stuff.

here's one after a browse through a page of google search...http://www.plymouthtea.com/tobyteaboy.html

You may want to consider using a faircup as your filter. I don't think there are faircups made in usa, but a good quality porcelian creamer pitcher is about the same. These are easy to find made in usa. Most of the leaf will sink to the bottom, and the stuff floating on top you can just blow/tilt out before you pour into cup.

fwiw=for what it's worth

Also, if you are only avoiding products made in Asia, rather than specifically trying to buy made in the US, I think there are a few European made stainless infusers on the market (Freiling, WMF).
