BANNED :O

by Ed » Nov 10th, '07, 00:58

Well, I have tried on Firefox, Internet Explorer and Konqueror under Linux - it would seem that Adagio has banned my IP from the chat feature lol. Apparently someone at Adagio got sick of my jokes (I get sick of my jokes too). :P

Anyway, I will still be sending out gifts to my Secret Santa person even though I've been banned. (I'm sending a 250-pound crate of 2005 harvest bancha to spacesamurai) :|

Peace.

Ed--

From what I see on the Forum end, you've posted from 4 IPs. None of them match any banned IPs that Chip, Xine, and I control. However, I think that the IM feature operates independently of the forums. However, I don't believe it is a sophisticated enough program to block any IP. In fact, I think the whole IM thing is very buggy and needs some universalization. For instance, I can't use it in the Safari browser at all--it posts prematurely--and when I use Explorer, it often posts everything I write twice...at least on my end.

However, your particular issue sounds more like a problem with your machine than an Adagio/IM program issue.

I am not a computer genius by any means (for that, see EO), but if you run from a Windows machine, try doing a quick system restore to a date just before you noticed the chat snafu. If you still notice the problem, try e-mailing Adagio.

...I have certainly not banned you, buddy.

I will take a look at the admin functions, but as Mary already pointed out, the IM is not too sophistacated. I do not think you can be banned from the IM only. Since you can still post in threads, I do not believe you have been banned.

It's definitely weird. I truly don't see how it could be my machine... I booted into Debian and tried that - no luck. I even popped in Knoppix and ran the LiveCD and tried the Konqueror browser. My machine is clean and running great.

Looking at the error console in Firefox, there are some errors in the script for the teachat page. Maybe that's the whole problem. I have noticed some bugs in the IM/Chat, too. It's just weird how I'm the only one having problems with it. Thanks, Mary and Chip. Good to know you did not ban me. :P

Ed, don't be so naive.....

You're part of the ***Fukamushi Gang***

I doubt anyone would ban you... It just wouldn't be worth it.

lol Thanks, buddy. Good to know you think I'm not worth banning. 8)

I don't know what the deal is... but nobody else seems to be having a problem. There's nothing wrong with my PC. :?

Ed, maybe a rival gang is flirting with death?

Yes - I think the Asamushi clan is trying to silence me. :o

Ah yes, I could flash the asamushi clan (as opposed to gang) sign and not make anyone angry...

I had a thought (though I am not very computer-knowledged either)-- does changing your avatar or screen name have any effect?

Ack! I was back on for a minute and now the IM has once again been removed. Must be technical problems. There are numerous errors and warnings on the page...

Email me your username and password, Scruff, and I'll see if that helps. ;)
