Ok, Chip's right.
I mostly just do a thorough rinse of the wares between teas, but I've seen the petri dish data and I wash the wares I use in soap at the end of the day...and between heavily flavored teas. I've got the rooibos...whoa. I swear, the scent stays.
If I want to clean my teaware that is porcelain I simply put some baking soda in it. Then, I pour boiling water into the vessel.
Let it sit a few hours or even over night.... Pour out, then wipe the inside with a paper towel... Then rinse.
That is my Method.
For unglazed teaware, I simply rinse with water.

I'm a big believer in the awesome cleaning powers of baking soda and/or vinegar, too. However, I use neither for cast iron. I like to keep my acid/base reactions there very neutral (even though it'd take a hella lot of either to have any real effect on the iron). An occasional swirl with dish soap after a particularly pungent blend works well for me...I'm not seasoning the tetsubin, after all.
