My family was given a yixing pot a while ago and we were trying to decide what type of tea to use in it. I understand only one type of tea may be used in a single pot, given the absorbent nature of the clay, but I would like to know how specific the "one type" rule goes. One single-source tieguanyin, for example? Or just "darker oolongs" or more like "tieguanyins in general"?
Also, how should I do the first steeping to "break in" the pot? A man in the tea shop where I used to work suggested submerging the pot in the tea and letting it soak for a while. I'm not sure what I should do.
Thanks.
