These aren't issues if you drink asamushi.
Sorry Chip, couldn't resist.
Oh yeah, the "baby" Gyokko is so easy to clean out after a session.

A life w/o Yutaka Midori fukamushi would be a life less "abundantly green."NOESIS wrote:These aren't issues if you drink asamushi.Sorry Chip, couldn't resist.
BTW, I virtually always have a bag of fuka and asa open all the time and always switch back and forth.
Re: Help finding 1 cup Kyusu
I've gotta say, that is truly great tea (especially the O-Cha version). Really about the only fuka that I drink anymore. I go through phases where I binge on the stuff for a month or so.Chip wrote:A life w/o Yutaka Midori fukamushi would be a life less "abundantly green."NOESIS wrote:These aren't issues if you drink asamushi.Sorry Chip, couldn't resist.

Re: Help finding 1 cup Kyusu
30 minutes til I post the topic, might be a few minutes early. Certainly worth considering. Although these will hold 6-7 ounces, I usually only fill the kyusu 2/3-3/4 full anyway.shinobicha wrote: ... but I'm also keeping my eye out for the Petr TA SO too.
True, and I have never had any as good as O-Cha's ... and I have tried many YMs over the last several years, nothing is so deep and rich tasting.NOESIS wrote:I've gotta say, that is truly great tea (especially the O-Cha version). Re: Help finding 1 cup Kyusu
So, I appreciate everyone's help/feedback!
I wanted to report back that I found the teapot:
http://www.tokoname.or.jp/teapot/tosei01.htm
I'm left-handed, so this is perfect. It was also, surprisingly, 20% off!
I've just used it once. It actually could hold more than 1 cup (probably 2 small cups), but it is still nice and small. The infuser is on the lid, as you can see, and because of the small holes and steep sides of the pot, it works for both asa- and fuka- mushi.
Well, I'm assuming so... it seems like it will though. The first tea I broke it in with was Okitsugawa Supreme (O-cha) 2010.

Re: Help finding 1 cup Kyusu
Great deal!
I have seen these styes and was curious. They are quite different. Somewhere between houjin and kyusu. Hope to see some photos in action, hopefully in the Ode to Kyusu topic since this is not represented there.
The one down side is the leaves will get stuck to the screen on the lid (but then again, this happens to all houjin style pots anyway). When this happens, I just pour the hot water for the next steep over it to wash it back into the pot.

You should get one Chip, you could brew two teas at once, one in each hand.

Oh wait, I do not multi task so well ...
Re: Help finding 1 cup Kyusu
Yes, I will definitely try to post it in action! It has a very nice feel. I've been using Den's Tea's 'Ushiro de Kyusu', and while it is sturdy and a great pot for the price, I've never used a kyusu that is this nice.Chip wrote:Great deal!I have seen these styes and was curious. The leaves do get stuck on the screen, but surprisingly not much. And the opening and outer/top rim is very wide, so it's easy to do just as you said - turn the lid perpendicular, pour the water for the next steep over it and into the pot, and wash the leaves from the screen (and those still clinging to the side of the pot) back into the brew.
The handle on the side looks like it was added after the fact. One could almost use this pot like a houhin, because there are indentations on the top rim for fingers... if I get a chance to post pictures, I will mention it here on this post, too.

I finally posted some pics of this in action! See here in TC:Chip wrote:Great deal!I have seen these styes and was curious. They are quite different. Somewhere between houjin and kyusu. Hope to see some photos in action, hopefully in the Ode to Kyusu topic since this is not represented there.
