That is if I ever stop deleting the drafts of the OTTI topic ... I did so twice ... ARG!Nenugal wrote:Starting the day with Tsuen x O-cha Limited Edition Uji Asamushi Sencha "Hana no Kaori". Plans for the day: joining the new OTTI.
How do you like the Hana no Kaori?
Re: Wednesday FreeDay TeaDay 9/28/11
I think it is quite good, I gave it 5+ on my scale from 1 to 7 (the scale originally went to 6 until I tasted YMLE). In the beginning I was a bit disappointed that I didn't notice so much of the oolongish (oolongy?) characteristics that it is supposed to have, but after drinking it several times, I'm appreciating it more and more as a good asamushi.Chip wrote:That is if I ever stop deleting the drafts of the OTTI topic ... In varying combinations in different teas, I like sweet, floral, grassy, smoky, earthy, spicy, fruity, tart, toasty, camphorous, vegetal and please not too much astringency or bitterness to overwhelm the above.
Sayamakaori sencha to start today, first time in a couple of weeks, and so happy with the sweet, grassy, vegetal, and lightly astringent brew.

So sad, no tea for me today. Had to see the evil dentist.
No tea until the pain goes away.
However, once I regain the ability to drink tea without feeling like I'm dying... I'm gonna bust into the samples I got from JK Tea. I'll keep y'all posted in the puer topic.

Re: Wednesday FreeDay TeaDay 9/28/11
I received an order of tea today that I have been waiting for. I just finished steeping some of the kukicha I received and now I can't get enough of the stuff!
Unfortunately adagio (the place I ordered from) only has the sample size and teabags in stock. Looks like I will be stocking up on sample size packets soon. For a tea this good it is worth it! I also received some ti kuan yin which is also good.
Anyone else get new tea today?

Re: Wednesday FreeDay TeaDay 9/28/11
No new tea today - but a number of unopened bags of tea that arrived from Japan and China (via Arizona) last week.
Kukicha is often available later than sencha and gyokuro. The sample might be 2010 tea, with 2011 on the way. Kukicha was my first favorite Japanese tea. I still love it, but the one I'm drinking now is a karigane from O-Cha. Maybe I'll try the Adagio again when its back in stock.

Re: Wednesday FreeDay TeaDay 9/28/11
I've been craving tea all day today and finally have time tonight for a cup or two. For the longest time, I've been kicking myself for buying a larger bag of Adagio's golden monkey that I had somehow enjoyed as a sample, but subsequent brewings left me wishing I hadn't bought so much. Forcing myself to use up the tea and trying to find why I initially liked it so much, I recently found the tea leaf to water ratio that I must have used when sampling it, making it an enjoyable tea for me again.
