SF Asian Art Museum Teaware

by hopeofdawn » Nov 15th, '11, 11:56

A few weeks ago I took a trip to San Francisco--and of course one of the places that was on my 'must see' list was the Asian Art Museum. Sadly, I did not get to spend nearly as much time there as I would like, but I did get a few really nice pictures that I thought I might share with my fellow tea-lovers.

What was even better was that they had a special exhibition of Korean buncheong ceramics, and while there weren't very many tea-specific items on display, there were still a great many gorgeous wares to admire ... I also found this artist's statement, which given the discussions we've had on the forum about cracked yet much-beloved teaware, really spoke to me (sadly, none of my pictures of her work turned out):

There are also more non-tea related pictures I took from the exhibition here, for people who are interested .... :)

Great pics! Now I'm real curious to see what Ha In Sun's art looks like.

I always love going to museums and looking at the tea related objects. The Royal Ontario Museum had a nice little selection of teawares and the Philadelphia Museum of Art has a Japanese Teahouse.
